Friday & Saturday Weekend Package We can offer you the venue for the weekend, we do a 2 night hire, check in at 2pm and check out at 11am. Exclusively hiring Plush Tents means that you and your guests will have exclusive use of the entire site including all accommodation and facilities. Here’s some information on our facilities - 30ft Large Mongolian Yurt standing 110 relaxed seating 72 formal seating round tables 56 formal seating trestle tables 60 80 chairs included, please see our suppliers directory for, tables, table cloths, cutlery, plates, glasses, and decor etc. Communal Evening Bonfire: A large complimentary bonfire in the evening, surrounded by benches, so you and your guests can relax in comfort and enjoy the evening outdoors. Bandstand, hammock circle, picnic tables where you can congregate with your friends/family. Hot tub: Guests are welcome to enjoy our 8-12 seater wood-fired hot tub, but please bring your own towels. Barbecues: Most tents have their own charcoal BBQ but we also have two large gas and charcoal barbecues available for guests to use. A large 4 x burner gas barbecue and a large charcoal barbecue for which you may bring your own coal or we sell onsite. We have basic barbecue tools for guests to borrow. Mess Tent Kitchen: complete with 2 x 4 ring gas cookers, pots and pans, cutlery and plates, a giant cool box (ICE – NOT ELECTRIC as we are off the mains-grid, running on solar power) and a communal sink and draining board is situated near the bandstand. Natural Play area: With den building, mud kitchen, indoor cinema tent, treehouse, tipi with beanbags. Games, toys and books. Here is a map, and ariel photo of the site so you can get an idea of the space we can offer you. In total we have accommodation for 46 guests included in the fee. We also have the option to build additional tents on top of this in an accent field to hire for £300. 6 x Mongolian Yurts with 1 full size double bed and 3 single sofa beds 4 x 5 Meter Bell Tents with 1 double futon bed and 3 single sofa beds 1 x Lotus Belle with 1 double futon bed and 2 single sofa beds 1 x Tipi tent with 1 double futon bed and 1 single sofa bed 6 x Mongolian Yurt: They are simply gorgeous and once inside, feel solid, sumptuous and welcoming. Each yurt has 1 double hand carved full size oak bed and 3 single sofa beds for additional guests. All come with duvet, pillows, cotton bed linen, fleece blanket, a unique hand-painted table with two chairs, natural coir flooring with a large rug and sheepskins. Beautiful drapes in either red, green or white. An antique wood-burning stove with an evening’s supply of wood. A hamper to make tea & coffee. And you can create your mood with our changeable LED lighting then lie back and relax to your music through the stereo. Each yurt has its own barbecue and a picnic table. 1 x Lotus Belle Tent: Lotus Belle has a futon based double memory foam mattress bed and 2 single sofa beds. All with bedding (duvet, pillows, cotton bed linen, fleece blanket). The Lotus belle comes equipped with natural coir flooring, coffee table, torch and a beautiful little antique wood burning stove. It has its own barbecue and a picnic table. 4 x 5 Meter Bell Tent: The 5 meter bell tent has a futon based double memory foam mattress bed and 2 single sofa beds. All with bedding (duvet, pillows, cotton bed linen, fleece blanket). The bell tent comes equipped with natural coir flooring, coffee table, torch and a hamper with tea & coffee. Each 5 meter Bell has its own barbecue and a picnic table. 1 x Tipi Tent: Our marvellous looking teepee with natural coir flooring. There is a table, lighting and has 1 double futon bed and 1 single sofa bed with bedding (duvet, pillows, cotton bed linen, fleece blanket). This comes with a duvet, pillows and a blanket. A tea and coffee hamper. The Teepee has its own barbecue and use of a communal picnic table. Ceremony We can do blessing onsite or in the chapel next door. Fees for the wedding celebrant services are £350 which is fully inclusive of meeting the couple twice and creating a bespoke ceremony. Accommodation is for 46 people but as you will be hiring exclusively there would be an option for you to increase guest capacity staying over by using the adjacent field. Reception capacity for Home Yurt is 117 for a stand up or up to 70 for a sit down meal. You can hire a bigger marquee for larger guest numbers, this will be in the adjacent field and the price to rent the field is £300 for the weekend. Additional guests can also camp in this field included in the hire fee. Catering See our suppliers directory for recommendations. I would also recommend our luxury breakfast hampers that will be delivered to your tent in the morning. These are quite special as they have been produced by head chef Sam Mahoney who was trained by the Roux Brothers - (Three Star Michelin Restaurant) and his team at Field & Fork! Wedderburn Castle and Barns offers the grandeur of a castle or the relaxed rustic atmosphere of a set of barns in the castle grounds. The venues can be used separately, or combined for a drinks reception at the castle and dinner and party at the barns. Accommodation is available for up to 16 in cottages around the grounds or it is possible to rent the castle which has capacity for up to 26. This means that there is accommodation for 46 on-site. Catering and bars are provided by our panel of excellent caterers who will provide relaxed options including hog roasts, gourmet barbecues and buffets or a more formal plated dinner service. Weddings and Wedding Receptions at Herrison Hall can be as formal or informal as you like. At Herrison Hall, the emphasis is on you and your choice. If you want to provide all the food, drink and entertainment, you may. Or you can have a Catering Company to provide the food, a professional Bar to serve the drink or a Wedding Planner to set out the tables with their best linen, chair covers and cutlery. It is your wedding – you choose. We have hosted Wedding Receptions and the family have provided all the food, including the cake, all the drink, and made all the little notices and place cards on the computer at home. Others have had Wedding Planners who laid out the tables and fitted lined covers to them, rigged coloured lights and table decoration, one couple had a String Quartet to play before and during the meal, and there have been several Hog Roasts in the paved area to the rear of the Hall. We can supply names of Caterers, Professional Bars, Wedding Planners etc. that other couples have used and found very satisfactory. There is a list of these under the BOOKINGS tab on our website under USEFUL DETAILS OF CATERERS ETC. We do not take any responsibility or have any financial connection for services hired from this list of suggested companies. Obviously wedding receptions and smart occasions deserve smarter cutlery and crockery which your caterer can supply but there is cutlery and crockery of Village Hall standard available at the hall and this is included in the hiring fee. Clients should ensure that they allow sufficient time in their booking to set out the hall and other rooms as they wish. Clients are respectfully reminded that all rooms should be returned to the state and layout as they are found. Look at our website www.charltondownvillagehall.info where you will find a picture gallery showing pictures of Receptions at Herrison Hall. Some of these pictures show the use of round tables. These may be hired locally and delivered to the Hall on a Friday afternoon and collected again on the Monday following the reception. You will also see photographs of the various rooms, their sizes and number and types of tables that are included in the hire of the rooms. To see which days are free and which are already taken, go to the main website and click on Bookings. Here you will see a chart showing the current weeks bookings. Stepping through the weeks or month by clicking on “Next Week, Next Month or Next Year” you will see all the weeks of the year in turn. You can make your selection of an available date and click on the small cross in the corner of that date and fill up the booking form. You can always telephone Vincent Haslam on or email him at for further information. Most couples prefer to have some music playing in the Hall when they and their guests arrive and if you supply the music we will arrange for it to be played over the hall sound system. Any format except cassette tape can be used, and it is suggested that you put together a play-list on an I Pod, Memory Stick or CD. (Though home produced CDs are sometimes a bit temperamental and are not recommended unless they are played through a laptop!) A guitar or piano (we have a Casio Celviano electronic piano for clients use) can be plugged into the system and there are microphones for speeches and of course the system can be used for dancing if a Discotheque or band is not booked for the evening. The cost of using the sound system and microphones included in the package price. If you have a band, we have stage lighting that can be controlled from the stage. This is included and it is advisable to arrange to come in a few days beforehand to set lights up as you require them. If you wish to charge for alcoholic drinks, a licence is required and you can be covered by our licence which is included in the package price. Our Wedding Reception package price includes use of all rooms including the kitchen from 8.00am – 12.00 midnight on the Saturday (or main event day) and two hours on the next day, usually Sunday to complete any clearing up. It also includes time for delivery of goods such as round tables, decorations or drink to Toad Hall on the Friday afternoon before the main event day and time on Monday morning to collect the round tables, empties or other items not removed before. Clients arranging to deliver or collect items to the Hall on the Friday or Monday should ensure that the Hall is notified, preferably by the person collecting these items, when they are about ten minutes away so we can ensure the Hall is open. Civil Wedding Ceremonies without a reception to follow have the use of the Ballroom, Toad Hall, Watts Room and the kitchen for a period of 3 hours for £250. Extra hours are charged at £50 per hour. Please note these rates do not include fees payable to the Registrar. On the main event day the external Ballroom doors should be closed by 10.00pm the music turned down by 11.00 pm and off by 11.30pm. All clients including their band and / or bar staff and guests should vacate the building by midnight. There is a two hour period on the day following the wedding or reception to complete the clear up. The rooms should be returned to the condition that they were found in, ready for the next hirer. If clients are unable to leave the rooms clean for the next client, we will have to employ cleaners to finish the job and the cost of this will be deducted from the deposit. Where alcohol is present at an event a damage deposit of £150 is charged which is returnable if there is no damage.
